Carrie L. Foerster

Mediator

Carrie obtained her B.A. (Hons) from the University of Guelph, where she was awarded the J.W. Skinner award upon her graduation in 1992 as the student with the highest academic standing in the College of Social Sciences.  Carrie went on to study law and she obtained her LL.B. degree from Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto in 1995.  Following law school, Carrie practiced law for over 26 years.  She began her legal career working at a full service litigation law firm, where she litigated a wide variety of cases.  During those years, Carrie witnessed first hand the financial and emotional toll that the traditional legal approach of “lawyering up and going to court” can have on individuals.  Especially for families, she was convinced that there had to be a better way for resolving matters upon separation and divorce.  Her past experience as a litigator motivated Carrie to identify and to begin providing alternative, more productive and cost effective ways to help clients through separation.  That is what lead her to become a Family Mediator, now accredited by the Ontario Association of Family Mediators (OAFM).
